Junior Development Pathway (Ages 10-13)
One of the biggest issues with kids in this age group, is early specialization in their chosen sport. Our Job isn’t to specialize athletes early, It’s to build a broad foundational base of skill acquisition and Technical mastery, through exposure to a variety of different movement patterns. So when the time is right, they can take their training to the next level.
Futures Performance Pathway (13-16)
Now that your young athlete is moving to a stage of competition that inherently becomes more competitive, separating themselves from their opposition starts to become more of a determining factor on how far they will go with the sport the love.
This is where education around the importance of training to improve is developed.
The juggling act for an inexperienced coach is when you have a 13yr old whos already 5th, and a 16year old still yet to hit his/her growth spurt, and think that they will learn at the same rate. This is a recipe for having the athlete feel as though one athlete is falling to the standard of the many, rather than rising to their own potential.
Skill Acquisition
Skill Acquisition simply means that your child knows to move to solve a problem (E.g Cutting around an opponent to finish layup). However, an athlete only has access to the skills developed from the environments they are frequently exposed to (I.e their sport). Our job is to broaden their exposure to different Movements and create long lasting understanding of how to move well, to not only meet the needs of their sport, but far exceed it to ensure a healthy and long career
Technical Mastery
Technical mastery doesn't mean everyone fits the same cookie cutter technique. It means being guided by principles, and letting the athlete find their own style through problem solving, that allows for both safe and effective movements in a gym environment, and on the field/court.
Our coaches do this through the balance of ensuring a challenging, yet fun environment is created, so your child can leave feeling as though they have both learned and accomplished something.
Lier Parent
Our coaches carefully design programming and take an individual approach to each athlete in front of them. We believe its important to begin to educate the importance in setting training goals, and involve them in the planning of how to achieve these goals, that will help lead them to success out on the field/court.
